For the last three years we have ran our now ‘famous’ ChristmasAngels appeal. Last year, we managed to raise nearly £6000 worth of community support - funding Christmas presents, confectionery, super market vouchers, Zoomania passes, vouchers for toy shops, local meal vouchers and much more to over 50 families - more than 10% of our population. This was a huge undertaking as a school community and something we are very proud of, but once again I think we can do more! The appeal aims to support families of children within our school who are in need and where financially, buying presents, which is such an important thing for our children at this time of year, is a challenge. For the first time, due to the success in previous year, we are extending this offer of support to families currently attending Big Top Pre-School based in the community centre on Buckingham Park. Many of these families will become 'ours' as a school in the coming years and sharing the Christmas joy even further than before is important to the school. The initiative aims for members of our own school community to support gift purchases for children in need this year. This process will be fully anonymous and only Mr Fell will be aware of any requests or applications for help and support. Last year we could help over 50 families and had nearly 90 families coming forward to offer support with this. This year, we believe we can go further! What does the ChristmasAngels initiative aim to do? We are aiming to support families with new toys and gifts for the children of families in need for Christmas. How do I request support? Below is the link to a fully anonymous Google Form, for parents to complete to request support with this, you will need to answer a few (very short) questions relating to your need and your child/ren including their age and interests. No other families, parents, staff or children will be made aware of your request here and these can be made in full confidence. We encourage any families who might find Christmas financially challenging to access this support, and this as always is additionally open to the families of children registered as Young Carers at the school. Link to Request Support: https://forms.gle/RCHaKdtn5eenHs2U7 What will I receive? You will receive new toys and gifts for your child purchased by members of our community. These will come wrapped and ready for Christmas and will aim to alleviate stresses and financial pressures at this challenging time of year. Last year, and hopefully this, we were also able to support families with supermarket vouchers and support with other Christmas Expenses. How can I get involved? In order for this to work, we are asking for any members of our community who are able to donate to this, to sign up using the below form. Again - your details will not be shared outside of the team in school coordinating this project. This will hopefully include parents, staff and neighbouring businesses that we are in contact with to arrange donations – if you have family, friends or colleagues who might be able to support, feel free to share the link with them too - the more the merrier! Once we have parents who have identified themselves as either in need, or able to support, we will anonymously pair up these so that you are supplied with the details of a gift to purchase. This will not require a huge financial commitment - we are aiming for small and affordable toys - around £20-25 per family who commit, in order to ensure consistency for all. If you are able to commit a small financial offering to this project, then please send complete the below form so that we can keep a register of your details. Typically, parents will be asked to donate or request support in Early November. Please get in contact with Mr Fell directly if there are any concerns, questions or queries you have relating to this. For those of you who weren't a part of this last year, or are new to the school - please grab me on the gate in the morning, or respond directly to this email so I can answer any questions you might have!
