Mr Waldron's daughter, Emily, has recently visited Nyandiwa School and has passed on our greetings to the staff and pupils. She took with her some hand-made books, written by the children of Buckingham Park which she handed to the headteacher.
When she returned to the UK, she brought with her some hand-made books from the children at Nyandiwa.
The headteacher of Nyandiwa writes, "May I take this chance to pass my best regards and greetings to you and the entire community... May the peace of the Lord be with you all."
We have received some wonderful news from Nyandiwa School. Using some of the funds we have raised here at Buckingham Park, the school has purchased desks for the teachers and sports kit for the students. What a fabulous way to spend the funds. Thanks to all our children, families and staff for their generosity.
Nyandiwa School have identified classroom floors as a key priority for using the funds raised through our 'Give it Up for Nyandiwa' event.
The funds will be used to repair the classroom floors. As you will see from the photos below, they are in desperate need of repair!
If there are any materials left, the school will use them to repair a crumbling wall.
We will update you with some new photos once the repairs have been completed.
During October, our children and families took part in a sponsored activity as part of our Harvest celebrations.
Children chose to give something up and give something back. Some gave up chocolate, others crisps, some gave up TV and others their game consoles. Some even gave up arguing with their siblings!
We raised over £1000 through this project. The money will be passed on to Amani UK Charity and they will speak with Nyandiwa's leadership team to identify priorities for the funds.
Thank you for your generosity.
We've recently received these photos of children at Nyandiwa School. They are sitting at desks built by local trades people, but paid for from funds raised by Buckingham Park.
This was one of the needs identified when Miss Hair visited Nyandiwa back in February.
Look out for news of our next fundraiser for Nyandiwa.
We are privileged to be linked with a school in western Kenya, Nyandiwa Primary School. Nyandiwa is situated about 3.5 kilometres from the town of Oyugis.
