If you are going through difficult times, you are not alone. Everyone experiences difficult times once in a while. You may feel alone and isolated. These times can be difficult and even traumatic, Space can offer support. Space supports people who are going through relationship difficulties, depression, bereavement, unemployment, mental health problems, loneliness, or any combination of these issues. Space can support you by providing: • A safe place to unwind and think • Someone who will listen to you in confidence and without judgement • Information about other organizations • A chance to meet others What can you expect from Space?
Space hold 4 drop-ins a week. These drop-ins are a chance for people to meet others. Members can sit and chat over a hot drink with a biscuit or some fruit in a relaxed atmosphere. All drop-ins are facilitated by volunteers who are trained with listening skills so if anyone needs to talk privately and confidentially we have people who are willing to listen. Drop-ins are held in St Mary’s Church on: Tuesday 10.30am – 12pm Friday 10.30am – 12pm Sunday 2pm – 4pm … also in Church of the Good Shepherd on: Thursday 10.30am – 12pm We are setting our children, staff and families a challenge over the next 20 days, in recognition of Lent. Lent is the 40 day period before Easter, starting on Ash Wednesday (the day after Shrove Tuesday). '20 days' is a generosity challenge which invites people to do Lent a bit differently. During the twenty school days in March we will invite children, families and staff to take part in twenty simple acts of generosity which will challenge them to ‘do Lent generously’ in 2015. Lent marks a pivotal point in the history of the church, when Jesus prepared to give himself up as a sacrifice. Traditionally we mark Lent by giving something up, but what if it could be more than that? What if Lent was a preparation for a lifetime of big-heartedness? Small acts of generosity have the power to make a big change to our school and community. The idea is simple; during the period of Lent, as a whole school, we’ll give something back, not give something up. Each class has a set of Challenge Cards. Each school day, beginning today, every class picks a Challenge Card at random and this becomes their challenge for that day. Each task is a small act of generosity or kindness. You can join in at home by downloading the wall chart (below) and having a try with the family!
