On Tuesday 14th July, children in Reception and Years 1 2, 3 and 4 will be visiting St James Church. As a church school we have a close friendship with St James Church and we try to visit the church at least once every academic year to support our link and our teaching of RE. The children will travel to the church by coach, accompanied by staff from the school, and will spend about an hour there. The children will be able to tour the church, and Revd Mark will be on hand to talk to the children and answer questions. Each group of children will have a focus for their visit: Reception: An introduction to St James Church Year 1: Art at St James (including stained glass windows) Year 2: Features of a Church Years 3 and 4: Symbols and symbolism We are looking forward to a great visit. We have a limited number of places for parents to help out on the visit. If you are interested, please speak to your child's class teacher. Aylesbury junior parkrun is a 2k run for juniors (4-14 year olds), linked to the Parkrun organisation which has established fun, free runs for local people up and down the country. Aylesbury junior parkrun is held every Sunday at 9:00am at Meadowcroft Open Space (Meadowcroft Road, Aylesbury, Bucks, HP19 9HH). It costs nothing to join in - it's free! Participants will need to register before their first run, but you will only ever register with parkrun once. You'll need to bring a printed copy of your barcode along to each run. The aim is to have fun. Please join in whatever your pace! Click here for further details: http://www.parkrun.org.uk/aylesbury-juniors As part of our 'Moving Up Day' on Tuesday, we are inviting all our families – new and old – to hang around after school for some fun and to meet with each other in a relaxed, informal gathering. Our friends from Jonathan Page Play Centre are coming along with a bouncy castle and games, and we also have some field games and sports to try out. The PTA are serving refreshments – in exchange for a donation to PTA funds. Everyone is very welcome and we look forward to seeing you! We do hope that everyone enjoyed our Summer Fete in the sunshine on Saturday. We owe a great debt of gratitude to the PTA committee members, parent volunteers, staff, sponsors and partners for working so hard to produce such a great event for everyone to enjoy. They are too plentiful to list here but they know who they are and we are incredibly grateful for their hard work, commitment and generosity. Thanks to all our performers on the day: Irish Spirit Dancing, Lynx Gym, Castielli Dance, Pegasus Gym, ZKS Martial Arts and Respect Kickboxing. Thank you too to all those children, parents, family members and friends who came along on the day and supported the event. The PTA events raise much needed funds for the school. You may have noticed some contractors working in the corner of our school field over the last two weeks - this is an exciting project which will be revealed soon and has been made possible thanks to the funds raised by the PTA, Thank you, thank you, thank you. Spirit Irish Dance performed at our fete. Visit their website at www.spiritirishdance.com The hottest day of the year didn't defeat us thanks to the wonderful team and community at Buckingham Park! The PTA organised extra cold drinks and ice-pops, the staff rescheduled the event with shorter times in the sun and more rests, our families arrived with extra gazebos for shade, and everyone came armed with hats, water and sunscreen! Thanks to everyone's teamwork the children had a great sports day and all competed happily and successfully. Well done to all the teams! Send your photo to office@buckinghampark.bucks.sch.uk and we'll add it to our slide show! As with all our website photos, if you or your child appears in a photo you can ask it to be removed from our website by sending an email to head@buckinghampark.bucks.sch.uk and it will be removed immediately - no questions asked.
