Buckingham Park School was visited by World Record Breaker and South Pole Explorer Lewis Clarke. When Lewis was 16 years old her became the youngest person ever to trek to the South Pole, cross-skiing over 702 miles for 50 days. Lewis - now 20 years old and studying History at an American University - came to visit the school in response to letters written to him by Year 5 children. Last term, Year 5 wrote letters to inspiring world record breakers, and Lewis was so touched by the letters he received, he agreed to visit us. Lewis retold his adventures to the whole school during worship time, and asked the children "What's your South Pole?". The dream that you think is achievable, but with support and determination - could come true. Lewis then went onto give a more in depth question and answer session with Year 5, where the children excelled with their speaking and listening skills, and were also able to see and touch some of the equipment (skis, boots, and gloves). We want to give a huge thank you to Lewis Clarke for giving up his time to speak to our children and inspire all of us to think "What's your South Pole?"

Please consider helping at the Fun Run. We need adult volunteers to make the event a success! You don't have to volunteer all day - even if you can only spare an hour it would be very helpful! Just complete the very simple form below and someone will be in touch to find out when you can help. Please complete this simple form and someone from the PTA will get in touch with you: Our Year 6 children are on a woodland adventure this week, with The Bushcraft Company at Boughton Woods. They'll be sleeping under canvas and experiencing some wonderful bushcraft activities. We look forward to receiving their updates which we'll add below. Most recent updates will be at the top. Scroll down for earlier updates. Friday 25 May, 8.00am Lots of children out in the shelters last night, despite the torrential rain which started just before 10pm! This morning is all about packing up, first aid, and an exciting 'emergency situation' to encounter. Thursday 24 May, 8.00pm Anyone for salmon? Salmon eyes?! Thursday 24 May, 4.30pm A great day so far. Knife skills - see a couple of photos below. Camo paint now on ready for the wilderness walk! Thursday 24 May, 12.00pm A big fry up for breakfast this morning! First activity of the day was 'knife skills'. Everyone is healthy and happy! Thursday 24 May, 7.30am They've made it through the night! No rain - but a very early start. A few children started the night in their self-made shelters, and a couple of girls stuck it out right into the early hours. We are sure that there will be some tired children today. It's cooler today, and the rain may arrive later! Wednesday 23 May, 6.30pm A great first day! The children have built shelters (which they are determined to sleep in!), built and lit fires (and cooked burgers on them), and learned songs and riddles. They are now getting their tents all sorted for the evening. Not many pictures because phone signal is patchy - but everyone is as happy as the boys here...! Wednesday 23 May, 11.00am Miss Anderson has sent a message to say that they've all arrived safely at Boughton Woods. Let the adventure begin! Wednesday 23 May, 9.00am They've left Buckingham Park! On their way to Boughton Woods. All looking very excited about the days ahead. We want to thank everyone who supported our May Fayre on Saturday. For all those parents, staff, church members, friends and family who volunteered to help on the day, we are most grateful for your time, energy and generosity. As with all our web pages, if you or your child features in a photo and you prefer it not to be on our site, please email office@buckinghampark.org and we will remove it without question.
