End of Term Awards

27/3/2026

Picture
I am thrilled to announce below the winners of our End Of Term Awards for Spring 2025.26.

For parents who aren't aware, we have had these in place for a few years now, awarding one child, per year group, per term who not only reaches, but eclipses expectations and goes 'over and above'.

The winning children were presented with trophies this morning which they should keep until the summer when we contact to ask them to return them to be awarded to the next lucky bunch of children. The staff write the lovely blurbs below for the children to keep fondly and these are emailed to the parents of the winning children.

Join me in congratulating this term's winners:

Maxim – Reception

This term, the child we have chosen has truly shone in Reception, building confidently on the strong foundations he developed during his time in our school nursery. He approaches every part of the school day with energy, focus, and curiosity, always eager to explore new activities and challenge himself. He is consistently one of the first ready on the carpet, listening attentively and following instructions calmly and without fuss, setting a wonderful example for others. When learning he consistently shows determination, focus, and a genuine desire to improve his knowledge and understanding he Is not afraid to try new things, and approaches challenges with resilience and confidence, always striving to do their very best.

Beyond his learning, he is an outstanding friend and role model. His kindness, thoughtfulness, and generosity make him someone his peers can always rely on. He celebrates others’ successes, offers support when needed, and is quick to include everyone in activities and play. His calm, caring, and considerate nature helps to create a happy, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment.

This child’s actions reflect the values that underpin our school life at Buckingham Park- from showing patience when helping others, to listening and following directions carefully, to persevering with tasks even when they are challenging. His positivity, dedication, and supportive attitude make him a true superhero of our Reception class, inspiring and encouraging those around him every single day. We are incredibly proud of all that he has achieved this term and of the way he continues to grow and thrive. We just know he will continue to make a positive difference in his class and in the school community. Congratulations Maxim!

Abarajithan – Year 1

This child in 1B has been chosen for so many reasons. They are true asset to Buckingham Park and are a brilliant role model to all their peers. Their engagement and focus is outstanding, especially for someone so young. Every day, they show determination and resilience even – and especially - when things become challenging. They are very confident in Maths and it lovely to see your willingness to contribute to class discussion.

This term they have shown great resilience especially with your phonics and reading and they have made great progress. The dedication to their learning in school and at home should be celebrated, including their dedication to reading at home and this happening every day.

Beyond their learning, they are a reliable and kind friend; it is lovely to watch them play and laugh with their friends and they are always polite to the adults that help. We are incredibly proud of you and look forward to seeing you keep up your excellent attitude. Well done to Abarajithan!

Thea – Year 2

In Year 2 there was a unanimous decision as to who should be given the award this term. This person consistently models the school values and are a role model to their peers by always being ready to learn, being respectful to those around them, being polite and always trying their best in everything they do.

This child is a lovely friend by supporting their peers, making sure no one is left out and being on hand to play with those who are feeling upset as well as always offering to help adults when needed. This child loves to challenge themselves and takes on board feedback to make their work better. They come into school with a smile on their face and ready to get started on their morning work straight away.

We are very proud to announce that our over and above award winner is Thea!

Niranjanaa– Year 3

This person always arrives in school with a smile on her face. She checks in with her friends, offering a kind word or a helpful hand. She often speaks to the adults in the class too, setting a calm, cheerful environment with her gentle good humour. She makes us laugh and smile every day with her wry sense of humour.

During lessons, she always listens well and actively thinks about her learning, asking challenging questions or making comments that demonstrates she is making links with previous learning. During tasks she is a good talk partner sharing her ideas and building on others’ ideas in a creative and collaborative way. She always gives 100% effort. On the playground she is a kind and caring friend, always willing to help those who may be feeling sad or who are in need of a friend. She is also a peacemaker, avoiding conflicts through her positive attitude. When asked for a volunteer, she is first to raise her hand and will carry out each task to the best of her ability when selected. Also, in situations when she is not selected she never shows her disappointment but is always happy for her friends and has a friendly and supportive word to encourage others.

This person is a true role model and is the embodiment of the Buckingham Park school values and so it was a unanimous decision between all the Year 3 team that the over and above award should go to Niranjanaa.

Cooper – Year 4

At first glance, this Year 4 Above and Beyond Award winner may seem quiet, even a little shy - but beneath that calm exterior is a fun-loving personality with a wonderfully quirky sense of humour that brightens the classroom.
They approach every task with focus and determination, always following instructions and completing their work thoughtfully and on time. Their work is consistently of a high standard, and when challenges arise, they don’t give up - they persevere with resilience and a positive mindset.

What truly sets them apart, though, is their kindness. They are unfailingly friendly, always considerate of others, and never choose words or actions that might upset someone else. Their gentle, caring nature makes them an extremely valued member of the class.
Every single day, they greet me with a cheerful hello - often accompanied by a high five and a genuine, uplifting smile that has brightened my day more times than I can count.
With an exemplary attitude to learning and an ability to lead by example, they are an outstanding role model for everyone around them.

This award goes to the most deserving person in year 4 – Cooper, well done.

Peter – Year 5

For some children, school life flows easily. For others, it takes determination, patience and a willingness to keep trying even when things feel challenging. What has stood out with this child over time is a real commitment to growth. There has been a clear effort to approach each day with a positive attitude and to keep moving forward, even when things have not always been simple.
This year in particular has seen a wonderful change. In lessons, there is greater focus and engagement. Tasks are tackled with more care, listening has improved and contributions in class are thoughtful and enthusiastic. There is a growing sense of confidence and pride in learning, which has been fantastic to see.

One quality that has always been clear is being a caring and loyal friend. Kindness towards others comes naturally, whether that means including someone who needs a partner, offering encouragement or simply showing empathy when a classmate or adult needs support. Those small moments of kindness help make the classroom a better place for everyone. There is also a strong example now being set for others. Positive choices and a willingness to help are shown day after day.

Being a role model is not about being perfect, but about showing effort and integrity—and that is exactly what has been happening. Progress of this kind is built over time, through perseverance, reflection and a genuine desire to grow. For showing all of those qualities and for truly going over and above this year, this award is richly deserved. We are so proud of this person for all they have achieved so far. The end of term ‘Over and Above’ award for Year 5 goes to Peter.

Ethan Y – Year 6

This person is deserving of the End of Term Award for Year 6 due to their relentless effort, positive attitude, and impeccable manners shown every day at school. They always give 100% to every task, no matter how challenging it may be. This student is never afraid or embarrassed to ask for help and is always willing to support others too.
We truly admire this pupil’s approach to learning, as it is clear that they are constantly striving to improve. 'Is this right? Do you like this piece of writing? How can I make it better? What can I do next?' These are all questions that can be heard from this pupil on a regular basis, demonstrating a growth mindset and a strong desire to better themselves.
In addition to this student’s faultless attitude towards learning, they are also incredibly polite, always remembering their 'pleases' and 'thank yous' and thinking of others first.
We are very pleased for this pupil to be recognised with this award, and they should know that their efforts certainly do not go unnoticed.

The Easter End of Term Award for Year 6 goes to Ethan.

Have a lovely Easter Break all,

Dan
