World Book Day Plans!

3/2/2026

Picture
We are excited to tell you about this year’s World Book Day week plans. World book day is Thursday 5th March - but the plans at Buckingham Park last for much longer than this!

World Book Day Week
The theme for this year’s World Book Day week is picture books. Each year group will spend two weeks looking at a Julia Donaldson picture book and will have lots of opportunities to get creative with these.

On Friday 6th March we will be inviting the children to come into school dressed as their favourite book character. These costumes can be as extravagant or as simple as you like.

Scholastic Book Fair
After the success of previous years’ book fairs, I am pleased to share with you that the Scholastic Book Fair will be returning this year. This will run from Monday 2nd March until Friday 6th March and will be open from 3:15pm each day. The children will get the opportunity to go and visit the book fair and have a look at the books, they can then write a wish list of books that they like which you can then view online.
Scholastic Shop - Scholastic Shop

Should you wish to purchase any books, you can pay for these online before coming to the book fair, or pay for the books at the book fair using a card machine. Similarly to previous years, we will also have a QR code which you can scan with your phone and pay online, you will need your card details. We are unable to accept cash. We will need to see proof of purchase before you are able to take a book, so please make sure you bring this with you. You are also able to redeem your £1 World Book Day token at the book fair.

Competition
Our World Book Day Week competition for this year will be “Extreme Reading”. We have run this a few times now and it is always hugely successful. We are asking children – and staff – to get creative with how and where they are enjoying reading. We will then choose four winners, one from each key stage and one overall winner, who will each win a £5 voucher to spend at the book fair. The crazier places to be caught reading the better!

Please email photo entries to Miss Mannion using the office email [email protected] making sure to include your child’s name and class. Entries need to be sent in by Thursday 5th March and winners will be announced in Friday’s Worship time. We will also display entries in the library so everyone can enjoy these.
