Our School's Christian Values Superheroes
Each of our Superheroes represents one of our School's Christian Values. Our Christian Values are at the heart of everything we do. We ask each member of our community to be a 'Superhero', working hard to demonstrate our values and to help others to do so too.
We are kind, helpful and polite
Kindness, like politeness and helpfulness, is a personal quality that enables an individual to be sensitive to the needs of others and to take personal action to endeavour to meet those needs.
A well known example of kindness is given by Jesus in his story of the “good Samaritan”, which is found in the book of Luke in the New Testament (chapter 10 verses 25-37). The Samaritan in the story certainly was a kind man who saw a robber’s victim lying by the side of the road to Jericho. He stopped and rendered first aid to the man, put him on his own donkey, took him to an inn, and paid for his lodging and care.
Kindness is also one of the 'fruits of the spirit' in Galatians Chapter 5.

We do our best
"Let everyone be sure to do his very best, for then he will have the personal satisfaction of work done well and won’t need to compare himself with someone else." (Galatians 6 v 4)
We believe that we should do our best in everything that we do. We want to be our best self - the very best that we can be. This means doing our best in our school work, but also doing our best to be a good friend, to be a great family member, in our work and in our play.

We are honest
Being honest is more than just telling the truth. It is also about not covering up the truth, and being honest with yourself. It's also about making honest decisions in life - living a life of integrity.
The ninth commandment given to Moses was, "Do not tell lies about others" (Exodus 20 v 16). And there are many more examples from the Bible with lots of encouragement to live an honest life. Proverbs tells us, "It is better to be honest and poor than dishonest and rich." (Proverbs 16 v 8)

We share
When we talk about sharing in school, it is easy to just think about sharing resources such as toys and equipment. Sharing is more than that - it is about sharing our time with others and it is also about being generous with all that we have.
"Make sure you don’t take things for granted. Work for the common good and share what you have with others" (Hebrews 13 v 16).

We are peacemakers
Peace is not just the absence of war. It includes peace with God, positive harmony and healthy relationships between people . Jesus said, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God”. (Matthew 5 v 9).
In our school we help children to understand peace by teaching them to resolve conflict and difficulties in a peaceful way and by creating times and places for stillness and reflection.

We forgive others
In the Bible God is described as slow to anger, abounding in love and forgiving sin (Numbers 14 v18). Jesus asked us to forgive, ‘seventy times seven’ (Matthew 18:21). In other words, forgive and keep on forgiving without limit.
Paul says: ‘Be compassionate and kind to one another, forgiving each other, just as God forgave you.’ (Ephesians 4:32).
We help our children to understand forgiveness in school as giving someone else a 'fresh start' and this is also reflected in our behaviour policy.

We take care of everything, and everyone
Taking care of everything is all about looking after our school, our homes and our world. All of us have a responsibility to use, and not abuse, the resources we have been given. In the Bible we find many stories of Jesus showing care for the sick and the downtrodden of society. Christians believe that their attitudes and actions must reflect the kindness, mercy and compassion of Jesus and the love of God for everyone.
In our school community this means showing kindness and respect to each other. It is reflected in the ways in which members of the community support each other.
