Young carers are children and young people who care for someone in their own home who is ill, has a physical or mental disability, or drug or alcohol dependency. Anyone can be a carer – and someone (including some of our children) can become a carer overnight. We have around 60 children registered as Young Carers, receiving support in the school. These children will, on a fortnightly basis, spend an afternoon out of class completing fun, engaging and exciting activities with their peers. These include sports sessions, arts and crafts and community projects.
The cared for person may be a parent, sibling or another relative living in the same household. The child or young person does not necessarily have to be providing ‘hands on’ care to be recognised as a young carer. Even if there are services in place and other members of the family helping with the care, the emotional impact and restrictions due to illness or disability can still have an enormous effect on the young carer.
Young Carers at Buckingham Park are led by Miss Eaver and Mrs Sheppard. We also have support from the team at Young Carers Bucks.
If you feel that your child requires this support, please contact your child's class teacher or via the following methods:
Face to Face - mornings on the Parent Information Point or afternoons on the playground. A request for something such as a 'quiet word' will be enough for our staff to find convenient time to meet you to discuss your concerns.
Via Telephone - 01296 415687 and then option 3 for our Pastoral Team
Via email at [email protected]. This email address and phone line are only manned by our safeguarding team who operate on a strict confidential understanding.
Via the 'Request Support' form through the wellbeing and family support section of our website.

Young Carers Bucks is the young carers service within Carers Bucks. They work with young people aged 5-16 who live within Buckinghamshire and have a caring role. They have a brilliant team of dedicated support workers who tailor their approach to suit the needs of the young person they are working with and tackle anything that rises around their caring role.
