 The Eagle has landed - well, Miss Hair has. She's safely home after her amazing adventure.
We are looking forward to her telling us all about her travels to Kenya, especially the time she spent at Nyandiwa School. Keep your eye on these pages - Miss Hair tells is that she has lots of photos to share! Miss Hair is now spending a short time of relaxation and recovery at the Masai Mara National Reserve. She has been delighted to have a hot shower! She is also slowly connecting back to the world at large - with WiFi access for the first time this week. She has also had the amazing experience of seeing elephants, giraffes, lions and hippos - all amazing! Below are just a few of the many, many photos which Miss Hair will bring back to school to share with us all. Update from Miss Hair (Sunday): "A lovely day. I joined in with a Sunday school session. We packed up all our things, ready to leave Oyugis, and then went on two community visits in the afternnon. The visits were to groups of widows and orphans supported through Amani UK. We'll have an early start tomorrow, travelling to the Masai Mara National Reserve."  Saturday's Update from Miss Hair:
“Hot, hot, hot! A day full of community visits to widow groups and orphans homes. I learnt how to prepare and eat sugar cane this evening. “ Thursday was a tough day for Miss Hair - enjoying spending time with the children and staff at Nyandiwa School but also thinking about everyone at Buckingham Park as we were inspected by Ofsted. Miss Hair would have wanted to be at Buckingham Park to contribute to the inspection but was able to send a number of encouraging text messages from Africa!
As the first week of Miss Hair's visit draws to a close, she has spent her last day at the school. She will now visit some community projects, and also spend a short time on the Masai Mara National Reserve - it is half term, after all! Miss Hair writes: "Yesterday (Thursday) I took part in a ceremony giving calves and goats to communities, danced with a widows groups and were sung to by a wonderful group of orphans. Today (Friday) is my last day at Nyandiwa. I've taught them 'Great Big God, played with balloons, led part of assembly in the sunshine and prepared for an emotional goodbye. Emotional goodbye done. I'm a mess. We are so blessed and we have made such a difference since the start of our link. I can't express how wonderful this week has been. All at Nyandiwa say that they love all at Buckingham Park like family members and send their blessings to you all." Miss Hair writes: Day 3 at Nyandiwa School was simply amazing! Highlights were:
 Miss Hair writes: "My second day at Nyandiwa was just as wonderful as the first. Our friends, staff and children, are all so welcoming and kind. Lessons are all very different from ours but all the pupils are so pleased to be at school. Behaviour is great and everyone smiles lots! I'm hot but loving every minute."  It's a bit cooler in Western Kenya today - only 28 degrees (still a bit warmer than Aylesbury!) It looks like there may be some rain, and then back over 30 degrees tomorrow. Miss Hair writes:
"Greetings and love from all at Nyandiwa. They were so grateful for the pencils I brought from Buckingham Park. I presented each pupil with one and the uniform presentation was wonderful. I've seen the desks being made and tomorrow am teaching grade one maths! " Miss Hair is settled in Oyugis and did some visits yesterday. She met with some 'bead' ladies who knew who she was, were excited about her visit, and treated her like royalty. They cheered and applauded her! Once the locals knew she was there, two Nyandiwa pupils came to find her. They were looking forward to her visit to the school this week. At the base in Oyugis are 40 school uniforms, funded through our partnership, which Miss Hair will personally deliver to school when she visits for the first time today. How exciting! Today, Miss Hair will visit Nyandiwa School for the first time. We look forward to hearing all about it!  An early start to the day to make the journey from Nairobi to Oyugis - a 330km journey. Tired with lots of travel but pleased to be 'home' with friends in Oyugis. Miss Hair has met Leonard, the Amani UK Schools' Link Worker, who supports our link with Nyandiwa School. It's a but warmer than Aylesbury with temperatures over 30 degrees at this time of year!  An update from Miss Hair, received on Friday evening... Landed safely. Flight was long and a bit bumpy - but OK. Have checked in to guest house for night one. Early start tomorrow for long drive to Oyugis.   Miss Hair sent us a message this morning from Heathrow. Her plane is on time and they've made it into the air. Last seen travelling over Europe.
