Nick Waldron, headteacher, met the contractors and project developers at the site today and was delighted to see that the first floor was accessible and the roof is on the building. Nick made his first visit to the first floor and was really pleased with what he saw, "The first floor of the building has a large ICT suite, staff facilities and a number of classrooms and group rooms. The height in each of the classrooms and the stunning skylights in the main corridor give the school a light and spacious feel. I can't wait to see the rooms full of children!"
Mr Waldron is having regular meetings with the contractors and project developers, and will continue to do so through the summer months to ensure that the building is ready, fitted out, and ready for our first cohort of children in September 2012. A group of school governors met on a cold, dark Friday evening to discuss the very foundations of our school:
- What do want our school to be noted for? - What do we want our children to learn as they move through the school? - Which values are important to us as a school? - What is our aim, our vision, our reason for being? These are BIG questions but ones which are so important as we start our journey as a school. These decisions define the 'direction of travel' for the school and help to ensure that we start our journey facing the right way! Take a look at the 'Vision, mission, aims and values' page to look at the school's important foundation statements. Opening a new school is a fascinating process. There is much to think about.
Thankfully, the headteacher and governors are being well supported by the teams at Buckinghamshire County Council, Oxford Diocese, Taylor Wimpey and Ashe Construction - all of whom have experience of new school buildings and schools. Nick Waldron, headteacher, and school governors, Rev Mark Ackford and George Caldwell‑Nichols, met today with the developers, project manager and various professionals from the Local Authority Team to hear the progress on the building and finance for the school. Amongst other things, we discussed the finances for the new school, the selection of gymnastics equipment for the school hall, education furniture companies, and the IT infrastructure for the school. |
