Joining the Library – It’s fabulous and free!

21/9/2013

Picture
You're never too young (or too old) to join the library. Every Buckinghamshire library has books, DVDs, CDs and much more for all ages.

We are very fortunate at Buckingham Park because not only can our children and families visit the library in Aylesbury, but we also have the mobile library visiting us each fortnight.

The mobile library visits Buckingham Park on alternate Fridays from 10.10am – 11.00am.  The next two visits are October 4th and October 18th.

If your child has a library card already, just bring it in to school on those days and we will take him or her to the mobile library for you.  You’ll still need to return the books to a branch library, or you can bring them back on the date of the next mobile library visit.

If your child is not yet a member of the library, then you can help them join for free at the following link:

http://www.buckscc.gov.uk/leisure-and-culture/libraries/joining-the-library

If you do not have access to the online form, then ask in school and we will provide you with a form.

Our school photographer will be visiting on Monday to take individual portrait photographs of each of our children, including Nursery.  We will arrange appointments later in the year to take sibling and family groups, as well as class photographs, but these will not be taken on Monday.  We will send home information regarding the process for ordering photographs.

The 96 Challenge - Every Day Counts!

8/9/2013

We really want to inspire our children and families to have an excellent attendance pattern so we are laying down a challenge.  Each half term, any child who has an attendance rate of 96% or better will be awarded a ‘96 Challenge’ certificate and will be entered into a special prize draw.

96% means no more than 1½ days of absence up to half term.

Showing up for school has a huge impact on a child’s academic success starting in Nursery and continuing through secondary school. Even as children grow older and more independent, families play a key role in making sure students get to school safely every day and understand why attendance is so important for success in school and in a job.

Let's really go for it!
