Special Mobile Library Visit on Monday 15th July

13/7/2013

We're delighted that Buckinghamshire Library's Mobile Library will be making a special visit to Buckingham Park School on Monday.

The Library will be on our school playground at the end of the school day and staff will be on hand to help families to join the library.  They'll also have information about the Summer Reading Challenge.

The library is an excellent place to visit in the Summer holiday.

Membership of Buckinghamshire Libraries is free.  To become a member on Monday just bring along proof of your name, current address and signature, such as a driving licence, allowance book or bank statement.

If you're already a member, why not take the opportunity to get some books for the summer?  You can choose up to 20 items at a time, and you can return them to any Buckinghamshire Library.

Feelin' hot, hot, hot!

Well the sun certainly shone on Buckingham Park CE School's first ever Summer Fete.  So much so that the tarmac on the playground melted!

What a great event.  We want to say a huge thank you to all the following groups (and anyone we've missed!)

- Those who brought along bottles or cakes to school
- Those who sold Grand Draw tickets
- Those who sourced raffle and tombola prizes
- Those who helped in the last few weeks to get everything ready
- Those who helped set up today
- Those who helped to staff a stall, burger van, or activity today
- Those who performed for us today
- Those who brought a stall along
- Those who came along, took part, spent money and brought others

We thank you all.  We think you are amazing!

Mini-Beast Hotel

7/7/2013

Mini-beast hotels are larger versions of bug boxes providing a varied range of nesting and resting sites for insects.  We are aiming for a rich diversity of visitors and residents.

Our gardening club is busy making our very own mini-beast hotel and they'd love you to help to provide some bricks, large stones, logs or pots that could be put to good use.

Safe in the Sun

We're really looking forward to a sunny, summer week at Buckingham Park, ending with our Summer Fete on Saturday!

Whilst we recognise that some sun is good for us, we are mindful of the importance of protecting the children in our care from over exposure to UV during outdoor play and activities.

It is essential that every child has a named sun hat and a water bottle in school this week.  Any sun hat will be fine - a school cap, or an alternative.  Water bottles should have  sports cap.

Please could you also apply plenty of high protection sun cream to your child's skin every day before school.

It's not very often that we have to warn against the sun and the heat in the UK.  It is a great problem to have!
