A group of talented musicians from the Aylesbury Music Centre performed a concert in our school hall today. The children also had the opportunity to see, hear and learn about a range of orchestral instruments. We enjoyed a diverse repertoire of tunes including pieces from Lady Gaga, Kung Fu Panda and Pirates of the Caribbean! If your child is interested in learning a musical instrument, take a look at the Aylesbury Music Centre Website. An exciting day today as the Science Dome 'landed' in our school hall! Children in our Reception classes visited the dome to discover space and beyond - learning about the stars and the planets. Our Year 1 and Year 2 children took a journey across and under the sea. The Science Dome is a blacked-out, purpose built, mobile dome with advanced digital technology capable of showing 360 degree pictures and films. Today we have launched a weekly newsletter especially for parents of nursery children. We hope that our Nursery parents will find the newsletter informative and interesting. All parents are, of course, very welcome to read 'Nursery News'. It is available to download from the letters page of the school website. We joined in with the Jamie Oliver campaign to raise awareness about better food education on Food Revolution Day on Friday 17th May. This is a global day of action for people to make a stand for good food and essential cooking skills. The children in Year 2 have been busy creating three of their own special fruit smoothie recipes and prepared these delicious drinks for a special playtime treat on Friday. We are very grateful for the support of Tesco, Morrisons and NIsa (Buckingham Road) for their generous contribution towards our ingredients. Click the picture to see our recipes! Many hands make light work! Thanks to all those parents who attended our Maths Information Evening. The parents had the opportunity to make a magnetic fishing game, learn about how our maths is taught in school, discover ways to support children at home, and toured the classrooms to take a look at some maths activities. All the resources from the evening are now available on the school website. Click here to visit the maths page. In the week when Warren Gatland selected his British Lions squad to face Australia, another Lions team were impressing supporters at Aylesbury Rugby Club. The Buckingham Park Lions participated in a Rugby Festival with lots of other local schools and performed really well, finishing third in their group. The team played with a fantastic spirit and a superb attitude. We are proud of the way in which they represented our school. Perhaps one day one of our team will be playing for the British Lions?
