Buckingham Park has been awarded an accolade in a Government-led awards scheme aimed at rewarding schools for the way we carry out inclusive and competitive school sport. The school has been awarded a Silver Mark in the Sainsbury’s School Games Mark scheme, launched by the Government in 2012 to reward schools for their commitment to the development of sport and physical activity. The scheme was designed in the wake of the 2012 Olympics and is sponsored by supermarket chain Sainsbury’s. We are, of course, delighted that our commitment to sport and physical activity has been rewarded in this way. We'll now be 'Going for Gold'! On Thursday 20 July, we elected out new house captains for the forthcoming academic year. Our brave Year 5 children put their names forward and prepared speeches to outline why they would be an effective leader for the house. Following the speeches, the children in Years 2, 3, 4 and 5 elected their leaders. The house captains for next year are: Sapphire - Oliver and Ella-Jane Ruby - Jasmine and Emmanuel Emerald - Phoenix and Clodagh We are sure they will be great leaders. We also want to thank all those children who put themselves forward. This morning Year 6 shared some memories of their time at Buckingham Park with us. We really enjoyed the presentation and we will be sad to see you go, but you go with our very best wishes! The staff prepared a video for the Year 6 children, and this is below, along with some photographs of Year 6 over the years. As with all our web pages, if you or your child features in a photo and you prefer it not to be on our site, please email [email protected] and we will remove it without question. Well done to our wonderful guitarists who performed in Worship Time today. We were treated to a variety of musical styles including classical, rock, pop and film themes - including some opportunities to sing along! If any children are interested in learning the guitar at school (Years 3 - 6 in September), please check out the information here: http://www.guitarinschools.co.uk As with all our web pages, if you or your child features in a photo and you prefer it not to be on our site, please email [email protected] and we will remove it without question.
This Friday, Buckingham Park Parish Council, in partnership with Buckingham Park CE Primary School, are launching a ’20 is plenty’ campaign for the Buckingham Park Community.
We all want to live and work in a community which is safe and healthy, especially for our children. By encouraging all road users on Buckingham Park to observe a maximum speed limit of 20 mph we hope to achieve:
Look out for the information on our Friday launch day. You’ll be able to pick up a wheelie bin sticker, sign our pledge, and collect a small gift for your child! Sign the pledge! We are inviting parents to sign a simple 'Driving and Parking Pledge'. Once you've signed, we'll give you a sticker to display in your car window. You can sign up at our launch day on Friday. The Pledge... I agree:
Some of our great artists visited Aylesbury High School at the end of June for an Art Workshop. The children had a wonderful time, learning new techniques and practising their skills. We are grateful to the staff of AHS for offering this workshop. Huge congratulations to all those who participated in our Fun Run. We're so proud of all our runners. The sun shone and we had a wonderful day! We're also so thankful for all those who helped to organise the event, to our sponsors, to all those who helped on the day, to everyone who attended, and for the sunshine! We especially want to thank our wonderful school PTA and the following partners:
