GIFT DAY AT ST JAMES CHURCH, BIERTON Saturday 3rd 0ctober 2015 St James Church, Bierton is holding a Gift Day this week to raise funds to maintain the beautiful church building. Our children love to visit St James and the church is an integral part of our community here at Buckingham Park. Any funds raise on Gift Day money is being targeted specifically for the Church Fabric Restoration Fund. The beautiful church is an ancient, historic grade 1 listed building and as such requires regular restoration and maintenance. St James is now facing the challenge of raising money to upgrade the lighting in the Lady Chapel, Sanctuary, under the Central Tower and in the Vestry with appropriate low energy lighting which is both ecologically sound and safe to maintain. Any monetary gifts will only be used to help us maintain this ancient, historic and listed building which serves a much wider area than just Bierton – it includes Broughton Crossing, Bierton Park, The Coppice, Oldhams Meadow, Watermead, Buckingham Park and the Elmhurst area to the north of the ring road. If you would like to contribute, please bring your donation to the church in person on October 3rd. Stewards will be present from 9.30am until 4.30pm to accept your gift. Or you could send your gift in to the school office marked for the attention of The Revd Mark Ackford (if sending a cheque, please make it payable to ‘St James Church Bierton’).

Our Year 5 children are visiting Green Park for two days. There will be lots of fun, adventure and activity as well as some sleep (we hope!) We'll try and post some updates here to keep you in touch with our journey! Looking Back What a fantastic couple of days with a super bunch of young people! We had great fun and we also learned a great deal about working together as a team. We've passed on our thanks to the fab team at Green Park for such an exciting adventure. Day 2 Lunch A great morning. We've completed another round of activities and we've had a mega-euro-champions-super-interteam-football-league in the sports hall. Lunch is happening right now - a choice of delicious freshly made sandwiches with crisps, fruit and Kit-Kat. This afternoon we'll be completing the third of our four activites and then we'll be ready to go home and sleep, or watch England v Fiji in the Rugby World Cup, or go to Film Night at school! We even managed to squeeze in some birthday cake time...! Day 2 Breakfast We all had a good night's sleep and we're up and raring to go (some more 'raring' than others!) We are celebrating a birthday today, in amongst all our other fun activities, so it was a rendition of 'Happy birthday to you...' this morning and some cake later. Breakfast was delicious. Bacon or egg rolls, cereal or toast. A perfect start to the day. It's a bit drizzly at Green Park this morning but it won't stop us getting out and enjoying the 87 acres of park and woodland. Day 1 Evening Great activities this afternoon and lots of fun out in the woodland. Delicious tea - breaded fish or pizza with chips, beans and salad followed by apple sponge or fruit - mmmmmmm! Evening 'quiz' is messy and loud but great fun... Day 1 Lunchtime
Everyone arrived in excited moods and we have had a fabulous first morning. We've explored Green Park, collected conkers, searched for wildlife and kept a lookout for 'Drop Bears' (!) We're now enjoying our lunch before setting out for some fun sports and then our first round of instructor led activities.
