We want to thank everyone who helped to make our Christmas Fayre such a success. The PTA committee, led by Nicola and Sarah have ensured that the Fayre was a super community event with fun for all the family. The team of helpers - parents, family, staff and governors - made an amazing contribution to make sure that everything was ready, ran smoothly, and was all packed away at the end. Last, but not least, a huge thank you to everyone who came along to the Fayre. We have raised over £1,000 for the PTA funds and also has a great day! This year, we will be holding the following Christmas Nativity Performances. Mon 11th Dec, 2.15pm Key Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2) Mon 11th Dec, 6.30pm Key Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2) Thurs 14th Dec, 2.30pm EYFS (Reception and Nursery PM) Fri 15th Dec, 9.15am EYFS (Reception and Nursery AM) Our Key Stage 2 children won’t be involved in our Christmas Performances but they’ll still be very much involved in all our other Christmas activities. Entrance to each performance is strictly by ticket only and is initially limited to two tickets per family as we have limited space in our hall and we want to make sure that every family has the chance to attend. Any remaining tickets will be made available once everyone has had the opportunity to get their allocation of two tickets. To be clear, if you have one or more children in Early Years, you may book up to two tickets (two for the afternoon or two for the morning or one for each performance). Likewise, if you have one or more children in Years 1 or 2, you may book up to two tickets (two for the afternoon or two for the evening or one for performance). Please book tickets using our online booking system: http://bit.ly/BPchristmas2017 If you are unable to access the online form (which is the quickest way to apply for tickets) please speak to our office staff. We are really sorry that we will be unable to accommodate younger brothers and sisters or babies - I know this is difficult but our space is incredibly limited and some of our children have tiny voices (compared to the somewhat louder voices of a crying baby or unsettled infant!) On Thursday 16 November we have invited Childnet International (www.childnet.com) to present a parents’ workshop on internet safety. Childnet is the UK Safer Internet Centre and works with government, online industry, adults and children; they are experts in the field of online safety education. We highly recommend that you attend this seminar. Please use the booking slip below to let us know that you will be coming along. Below is a message from Childnet International highlighting why it is important for you to support your children online. SCROLL DOWN TO BOOK A PLACE (OR LET ONE OF THE OFFICE STAFF KNOW THAT YOU ARE COMING ALONG) Dear Parents and Carers, Thank you for taking the time to read through this letter. Childnet’s mission statement is: “To make the internet a great and safe place for children” Promoting the positive
Responding to the negative
Did you know that over a third of young people who go online report having experienced one of the above risks, with 20% of young people having seen hate messages online and 22% having been bullied (online or offline) in the last year? You can do something to help your children use new technologies safely. During the presentation we will take you through how young people are communicating, learning and creating in new and exciting ways using online and mobile technologies. We will open up the world of social networking spaces (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat etc) and give you an insight into why young people use these spaces. We will highlight potential online risks including cyberbullying and unwanted contact. Parents will view “Let’s Fight It Together”, a film produced with the Department for Education looking at the consequences of young people misusing technologies and will be given resources to take home in order to further explore the issues and help available online. The ‘Supporting Young People Online’ seminar will cover some simple practical steps you can take to help manage the risks as well as advice you can give your child. However, really helping your child will mean getting involved in their online activity, learning from your children about a whole new language and way of communicating and then playing your part in being a role model - in supporting them and guiding them in their use. We look forward to seeing you! Our Christmas Fayre promises to be a great event for all the family. Many hands make light work, and more helpers means that we can have more stalls, more games, more fun! Please complete the form below to let us know when you can help.
