We've taken some time to evaluate our approach to home learning. Our new guide is below and this will be implemented with immediate effect. Please do ask us if you have any questions.
This is a free workshop for parents of Year 1 children.
This session will be followed by a 6 week 'Support your child with Reading and Phonics' course. Parents can sign up for the 6-week course at the workshop. Book the 'Fun with Stories' workshop here: Revd Mark has been such a good friend, supporter and guide for the school over the last 7 years. He was our very first Chair of the Governing Board and was serving as a governor before the school was actually built!
We have enjoyed his support and guidance, as well as his worship times and our visits to St James Church. Revd Mark is moving on to be team rector at a group of churches in the High Wycombe area. We wish him every blessing. Today, some of our Year 6 children led a worship time in honour of Revd Mark. Our Year 5 children are visiting Green Park for two days. They'll be enjoying a great range of wonderful activities! We'll provide some updates here when we can catch some internet connection! Day One Round Up It was lovely to see everyone arriving at Green Park this morning. The sun was shining brightly and everyone was excited about the adventure ahead. After a short stroll around the grounds, watching out for the 'drop bears' we were straight into our first round of activities, led by the wonderful instructors at Green Park. We enjoyed our packed lunches before getting back into another two rounds of activities. Lots of heroic tales of crashing crates, olympic climbs, fab teamwork and plenty of laughs along the way. A delicious tea of roast dinner, followed by flapjack - wonderful! Our evening quiz was a noisy and competitive affair. We finished off the evning with a circle time and a song. Every child and adult shared their highlight of the day. Now all in bed - all quiet. Goodnight! Friday Morning After a good night's sleep, we've woken up really refreshed for the day ahead (or that's the story we're sticking to!) Breakfast was an amazing array of continental delights - pain au chocolat, cereals, toast, yoghurts, fruit, organge juice. We're now ready for another action filled day. Friday Afternoon A great day on our activities. We started off with a song and a games in the camp fire circle (with no camp fire!) All the children have now completed team challenges, archery, climbing, crate stacking and low ropes - and much more besides! We've learned loads about team work, and about challenging ourselves, and about not giving up and having a positive mindset. It was a pleasure to spend time with a wonderful bunch of children. Some of our children have been busy writing short stories for the Waterstones' 'Awful Auntie' competition. When Miss Anderson dropped off some stories last week, she was delighted to be offered some books for the school (see photo below).
We're always delighted to receive great books, so a huge thank you to the team at Waterstones! |
