Today we were thinking about Harvest in our Worship Time.   We considered all that we have to be thankful for and gave thanks through song, prayer and through an act of generosity - sharing food with others through the Vineyard Storehouse in Aylesbury.

Thank you so much to those children and families who shared food for our collection - thank you for your generosity.   As you can see from the picture, we have a big collection to deliver to the Storehouse, which is great news!

Below are some of the readings and prayers which were included as part of our Worship Time.  Thank you to those Year 5 children who read these for everyone to hear.

What is Harvest?

Harvest is a time when we can all say ‘thank you’ for the Earth's gifts.
We bring our favourite foods and remember the people who grow our food and prepare it for us to eat.
We bring fresh, clean water, which gives life and refreshes us.
We bring the warmth and light of the sun that gives energy and enables things to grow in our world.
We bring the harvest of the sea and remember the people who fish for our food.
We bring the harvest of the soil and remember the people who dig for coal, mine for minerals and drill for oil.
We say ‘thank you’ for life and for the gifts from the Earth.

God’s Wonderful World (Based on Psalm 104)

This is God's wonderful world

Here is the sun, shining so bright,
that God put in his wonderful world.

Here are the silvery moon and stars,
That God put in his wonderful world.

Here is the sea with splashing waves,
That God put in his wonderful world.

Here are creatures which live in the sea,
That God put in his wonderful world.

Here is the sky, way up high,
That God put in his wonderful world.

Here are birds which fly in the sky,
That God put in his wonderful world.

Here is the land with plants and trees,
That God put in his wonderful world.

Here are rain clouds that water the land,
That God put in his wonderful world.

Here are animals big and small,
That God put in his wonderful world.

And here are some people God made
To enjoy and look after his wonderful world

Prayer

Dear God,
For the fruits of the earth: we thank you.
For the harvest of the sea: we thank you.
For the beauty of the sky: we thank you.
For your energy pulsing through the whole of creation: we thank you.
Amen
